more about Dermapen™ Microneedling
Microneedling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy whereby a series of needles penetrates the skin causing thousands of invisible micro injuries which leads to increased collagen production, which effectively repairs scars, reduces pigmentation and renews tired looking skin.
At Radiance we use the market leading medical grade Dermapen™ device to carry out our microneedling treatments. As the name suggests Dermapen™ is a pen like device used to deliver vertical microchannels into the skin to create a wound healing response with intense renewal, repair, and rejuvenation. The depth and speed of the Dermapen™can be adjusted to ensure it manoeuvres smoothly across all facial and body contours to comfortably target and treat the smallest or largest concerns and to ensure a fully customised treatment.
What skin conditions does Dermapen™ microneedling treat?
Acne Scaring, Hyperpigmentation, Sun Damage, Age Spots, Skin Texture, Facial & Body Scars and Stretch Marks
How does microneedling work?
The concept of microneedling is based on the skins natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin our body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones.
Microneedling with Dermapen™ allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro-injuries in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer, more evenly toned and younger looking skin.
How is the treatment administered?
Dermapen™ procedures are performed in a safe and accurate manner with the use of sterile, single-use cartridges. The procedure is normally complete within 45 minutes. Once the skin has been cleansed, your practitioner will gently glide the Dermapen™ over your skin to puncture the outermost layers of the skin and create minuscule sub-cutaneous injuries. These microscopic wounds stimulate new collagen deposition which may last for up to a year, yet they close within less than an hour.
Do I need to prepare my skin before treatment?
Before any microneedling treatment it is best to have skin make up free and cleaned thoroughly as well as avoiding sun exposure for 24 hours prior.
How does the treatment feel?
Microneedling treatment is relatively pain free and feels like a light vibrating sensation on the skin with very light pressure applied.
How will my skin look after the treatment?
Skin reactions depend on the individual, however skin will appear pink/red (similar to moderate sunburn) for around 24 hours. Other reactions after the treatment may include skin tightness & slight flaking. Skin will be back to normal within 7 days.
How quickly will I see results?
Visible signs of skin rejuvenation are seen after 6-8 weeks post procedure and continue for up to a year. For optimum results, a course of 3-6 treatments at 4 – 6 week intervals is recommended – dependent on the area and condition being treated.
Do I need to use anything on my skin after treatments?
Your therapist will advise you on what product(s) are best to be used on your skin after treatment. This will be prescribed based on the skin condition being treated and your skin type.
