Dermaplaning is an effective mechanical skin exfoliating treatment, which gently removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz (vellus hairs).
The build-up of dead skin cells and unwanted hair can make complexions appear dull and flaky, as well as causing pores to clog. Dermaplaning works by removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells to create clear channels into the skin, which increases absorption of skincare products and makes other skincare treatments such as LED Phototherapy, Peels and Microneeding much more effective. The benefits of Dermplaning include reducing the appearance of acne scaring, sun damage, hyper pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Dermaplaning also creates a brighter, smoother complexion and leaves skin smooth and prepped for makeup, producing a flawless finish. Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types and is a fast, painless treatment with no downtime and instantly smooth’s and softens skin and increases cellular turnover.
More About Dermaplaning
What happens during dermaplaning?
Your skin will be deep cleansed and an enzyme peel will be applied to soften skin and remove impurities. Dermaplaning is then performed using a sterile medical blade held at a 45-degree angle which is brushed along the surface of the skin to remove the thin layers of excess skin cells and fine hairs. A soothing sheet mask containing Hyaluronic Acid is applied to give intense relief and replenish the skin with moisture. Followed by toner, serum and moisturiser to suit your skin. The treatment is completed with the application of a broad spectrum SPF skin protection. The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes to complete, after your treatment you skin will feel ultra-smooth and will allow for greater penetration of skincare products, also creating a beautifully even canvas for makeup to glide on flawlessly.
Will my facial hair grow back darker?
No. Hair does not grow back thicker, only superficial vellus hair is removed during treatment and it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment. Dermaplaning does not cause vellus hair follicles to transform into terminal hair follicles.
What happens after Dermaplaning
You will notice an increased glow to the skin, evening of complexion, reduction of hyperpigmentation, improved skin tone, reduction of ‘peach fuzz’ vellus hair. Skin may be a little pink immediately after treatment due to being stretched but this normally subsides within an hour or so. Peach fuzz / vellus hairs do not come back thicker and stronger. It will grow back at exactly the same rate, thickness and texture as before.
How Many Dermaplaning sessions will I need?
You will achieve immediate results with Dermaplaning with a single treatment. Repeat treatments can be carried out every 6- 12 weeks, depending on your skin cycle. One of the main benefits of this advanced skincare treatment is that it can be paired with other advanced treatments such as Peels, Microneedling & LED Phototherapy to enhance their benefits and results. By removing the build-up of hair, oils, dirt and dry skin, you will notice penetration and absorption of skincare products is improved, so you will continue to see improvements from this treatment at home.
